What is Skin Balm?

Balms are solidified oils that melt into liquid when they come into contact with your skin. Unlike creams, they do not contain water. They are extremely beneficial for anyone with dry skin or those in cold/dry climates and are best used for extremely dry areas of the body such as hands and feet.

We have recently collaborated with a local small business who specializes in small batch organic skincare. Mary Boyle, creator and founder of Maribella Blends started her company in response to adverse reactions she’d experienced to commercial products that contain harsh chemicals. This led to research and experimenting with creating her own skincare products.

Mary decided to experiment with our Elderflower Tranquility Herbal Tea. She infused our herbal tea blend in sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil and organic babassu oil—an oil with benefits similar to coconut oil but with a lighter feel—to create a soft balm with a smooth glide. The herbs provide anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and calming benefits for skin and marshmallow root in the infusion amplifies the soothing anti-inflammatory effect and helps retain moisture.

She added “a bit of farm-harvested double-filtered beeswax provides a healing natural barrier and organic Palmarosa essential oil helps combat dry, irritated skin—including eczema and psoriasis—and is well tolerated by all skin types. Brought together in one product, these ingredients create a luxurious yet lightweight balm with moisturizing effects that last.”

This collaboration masterpiece is now known as Tranquility Soothing Skin Balm.
